Charles and Nancy in Italy

Vegetables, no Lohengrin, church bells

Yesterday was rather chilly and rainy, but we went out for a walk as we always do. The vegetables that we found in the local Conad (grocery store) were not so great, so we were happy to find better veggies at an outdoor stall in Piazza Aldrovandi; Nancy also purchased an Italian novel in a bookstore there.

Unfortunately, the two remaining performances of Lohengrin were sold out. We did get to look inside the wonderful opera house. It will be closed for renovation for the next 3-4 years, and the production of La Traviata (which we hope to see) will be in a different theater.

I previously mentioned the church bells that we often hear. I include a brief audio sample that Nancy recorded from our apartment window which opens into a courtyard inside our building, a kind of air shaft.

Love the church bell recordings, glad you found good vegetables. Photos of the place you're staying look crazy opulent--hope it's comfortable as well.
